SPECIFIC VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Resume Facilitator
Help students with military to civilian skills translation for resume and interviewing purposes. Familiarity with resume writing and formatting is a must. Students should come away from this interaction with a strong, representative, civilian resume that captures their strengths and experiences in a way that is readily understood by corporate recruiters.
Mock-Interview Coach
Interviewing is one of the most nerve-racking parts of a job search. Coaches will work with Veterans to practice interview scenarios and role-play sample responses, helping veterans be prepared and confident when it’s time for the real interview. Experience in recruiting (multi-industry) or as a hiring manager preferred.
Job Shadowing Mentor
As students identify career paths that are of specific interest, they are connected to volunteers employed in those industries for a job shadowing opportunity. Please allow ample time to explain the specific nuances of the job as well as features of your business environment and corporate culture.
Military to Civilian Mentor (peer to peer support)
This is a one-on-one mentoring opportunity for those who have served in the military and have transitioned successfully to civilian life to share experiences and helpful coping tactics in a “peer to peer” support setting. Meetings can be in person or by phone and may occur as often as both parties would like.
